Angelina Marek
Mother of abducted infant Kevin Verville Jr.

Angelina Marek (formerly Angelina Verville) married her husband in the Philippines before immigrating to the United States at age 21. Shortly after, he was transferred to Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California, where he was stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps. On June 14, 1980, the newlyweds welcomed their first child, Kevin Verville Jr. They were overjoyed and just settling into life as new parents when the unthinkable happened: a woman posing as a social worker abducted their newborn son. Kevin Jr. was never seen again.

Angelina has carried the pain of that day with her ever since. Though she went on to have three more children, the loss of her firstborn has remained a constant ache in her heart. In recent years, she has suffered multiple strokes, leading to dementia, limited mobility, and aphasia. Her daughter is now her full-time caregiver, and together they will take the stage at CrimeCon.

They look forward to sharing Kevin Jr’s story, connecting with others, and finding strength in a community that understands. With the help of the CrimeCon community, they’re holding onto hope that someone, somewhere, might finally come forward with the answers they’ve waited a lifetime to hear.
